Week 4 is done! Here’s the update!
The Shakeweights battled hard in their doubleheader despite 2 unexpected absences, but fell to both the Prancercisers and Free Flexors in lopsided defeats.
When Flames #97 scores the first 2 goals of a game, it is quite understandable given the pedigree of its owner. However these 2 goals were not recorded by dynamic forward Justus Foss, they belong to switch-hitting bomber Ryan Nelson! Both Ryan and the white Flames #97 jersey he was wearing had impressive days (more on that later)! This pair of tallies would be the only goals in the first half of the 10AM game. The Shakeweights played a very effective trap defense that mostly stymied the Prancercisers’ breakout. Brian Joyce got his Shakeweights on the board 20 seconds (!!!) into the 2nd half, which seemed to jolt the Prancercisers’ transition offense into high gear, resulting in 6 second half goals. 2 guys named Ryan – one on each team – topped the score sheet with 4 points apiece in this game – Nelson with 3G, 1A and Smyrk with 1G, 3A.
Flames #97 scored the first goal of the 11AM game as well, though this time the goal was indeed recorded by Justus Foss (Ryan Nelson swapped this jersey for referees’ stripes!) for the Free Flexors. The 2 teams traded punches – Ryan Smyrk tied the game for the Shakeweights, sub Case Hansen put the Free Flexors up, and Trevor Jackson re-tied it for the Shakeweights. At this point – about halfway through the first half – the Free Flexors went into beast mode and scored the next 6 goals. Justus Foss and sub Case Hansen each registered utterly ridiculous 5 point games, and Elia Hurst pitched in a nifty 3 point game of his own.
Incredible stat lines of the day:
