Rochester Area Broomball League – Winter/Spring ’19 – WEEK 2 RESULTS

Broomballers!

Here’s what happened in Week 2!

SUMMARY

The Free Flexors earned a tie with the Prancercisers in the 10AM game, and fell 6-2 to the Shakeweights in the 11AM game.

The early game showcased the value of persistence!  Despite holding a 2-goal lead late into the first half, the Free Flexors found themselves frantically fighting off a ferocious Prancerciser forecheck for most of the game.  With excellent goaltending and timely interception of passes, the Free Flexors were able to weather the storm, and got the game-tying goal late in the second half after pulling the goaltender.  Justus Foss and Ryan Cradick each recorded 2 points for the Free Flexors in the tie, and the Prancercisers got goals from sub Jordan Carder, speedster Steve McJunkin, and fancy defenseman Kevin Croal.

In a cruel twist of fate, the Free Flexors played much better in the second game but got handily beat by the Shakeweights, who jumped to a 3-0 lead that held into halftime and added a 4th goal early in the second half.  The Free Flexors finally solved sub goaltender Jessi McGehee late in the second half – actually twice – when Jake Chapman and Elia Hurst scored in quick succession.  However, the rally ended shortly thereafter with 2 more Shakeweight goals.  Ryan Smyrk recorded a ridiculous 4 points for the Shakeweights, and dangerous centerman Trevor Jackson contributed 3 points (2 goals) to the offensive onslaught.
