Rochester Area Broomball League – Winter/Spring ’19 – WEEK 1 RESULTS

Broomballers!
RABL Winter/Spring ’19 has kicked off!  It felt good to be back on the ice!

SUMMARY

The Prancercisers settled for a 3-3 tie with the Shakeweights in the 10AM game and defeated the Free Flexors 4-1 in the 11AM game.
The 10AM game started with over 10 minutes of scoreless play as players tried to find their footing on some unusually slippery ice.  The first tally of the RABL season went to Erik Scott of the Prancercisers, who shoveled a rebound past a sprawling Tim Smyrk.  The Prancercisers followed up Erik’s goal with 2 others and numerous scoring opportunities, and looked completely in command at halftime with a 3-0 lead.  However, the Shakeweights second half adjustments paid dividends, and their smart pressure in the offensive zone led to 2 goals.  Goaltender Tim Smyrk was pulled early and the Shakeweights tallied the game-tying goal with 2 minutes in the game.  Sub Ryan Cradick (2 goals) and Brian Joyce (2 assists) had impressive offensive performances in the game.

In the 11AM game, the Free Flexors showed great transition speed early in the game and caught the winded Prancercisers on several odd-man rushes.  One such rush by sub Dane Bremer led to the game’s first goal, which was scored by Jake Chapman.  However, this was the lone blemish on Prancercisers goaltender Zane Shelley’s record.  He denied at least 20 shots and 10 quality scoring chances in this game!  Forwards Steve McJunkin (3 points) and Case Hansen (2 points) converted nifty passes into goals to power their team to a 4-1 victory.

STANDINGS

Prancercisers (1-0-1, 3pts)
