Broomball shoes for my daughter

What do you do when your 8yr old daughter wants to hit the ice and try out her new (pink) broomball stick? You gear up. Helmet, check. New broom, check. Pads, check. Fresh ice at the local rink, check. Broomball shoes in kids sizing…. nope. So what do you do? You make some for her. Well maybe not you, but I did.

“If you are looking for kids broomball shoes, I can tell you I don’t have any. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for those people looking to make broomball shoes.”

Or something like that….

As a CNC programmer, machinist, and engineer it affords me the opportunity to take a project like this and run with it, pun intended. A little time and effort into the sole design, an inexpensive pair of winter boots (although stylish), some machining, a batch of special silicone, and we have a broomball shoe for her! Ok, it’s a little heavy, and a little rough around the edges up top, but they work! She loves them, and best of all, she is enjoying the sport we all love. #bestdaddy #broomballforlife

This is awesome! Something that I’ve come to appreciate more and more about this sport and the community is if someone notices an equipment gap they just go ahead and build something to meet the need.
